Condition

Each piece is chosen for its fine condition and with the intent to be comfortably wearable. Pieces are of considerable age and have passed through many time periods and environments, therefore imperfections may be present and are consistent with natural ageing of the object. Please note, colours may appear slightly different in person.

Authenticity

We source exclusively from well-established and reputable dealers, auction houses and private collections with verified track records. All acquisitions are conducted in strict accordance with cultural heritage ethics, including adherence to the 1970 UNESCO Convention on the Means of Prohibiting and Preventing the Illicit Import, Export and Transfer of Ownership of Cultural Property - the internationally recognised standard governing the ethical trade of antiquities. We will never knowingly acquire or offer for sale any object that has been illegally excavated, stolen or illicitly removed from its country of origin.

Should you wish to obtain a certificate from the Art Loss Register, we can carry out a database search on your behalf where possible. Please note that if no existing certificate is found, the search may incur extra costs for you.

Please allow 1-2 weeks for standard international purchases. For a piece that requires an export license, please allow up to 5 weeks:

Current UK and EU legislation requires us to arrange export licenses for some archaeological and numismatic items - please note it may take up to 25 days for licenses to be approved. If your piece requires us to take out a license, our team will contact you through email. There is no charge for the export license or this service.

For purchases exceeding $2,500 USD, US Customs & Border Protection requires additional verification documentation. The shipping courier will contact you during delivery to request your Social Security Number or IRS Number. Please respond to their request as soon as possible to prevent delays in customs clearance. This is standard procedure for all high-value imports into the United States.

We are unable to ship to countries subject to UK government trade sanctions, including: Afghanistan, Belarus, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Haiti, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Mali, Myanmar, North Korea, Russia, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, Venezuela, Yemen, Zimbabwe.

We accept returns within 14 days of you receiving your order. Returns must be sent fully insured and via Royal Mail Tracked at the buyer's expense.

Postage & Taxes

We do not charge VAT, and all orders are dispatched free of shipping and postage costs. Please be aware that any import duties, customs taxes or additional charges levied upon delivery remain the sole responsibility of the buyer. THEODORUS accepts no liability for such costs, which are governed entirely by the regulations of the buyer's country of destination. By purchasing, you agree to cover these relevant charges.

Customs & Import Compliance

The buyer is solely responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable customs regulations and import requirements in their country of destination, including any associated duties, taxes or fees. Any export licensing requirements applicable to an object will be obtained and managed by us prior to dispatch. We accept no liability for any delays arising from customs procedures, as these are entirely outside of our control.
